THank you for the kind words! I use history all the time and really couldn’t use an app that doesn’t have one.

And I know exactly what you mean with the playlists. You can actually create as many filters in Pocketcasts as you’d like (which is basically a playlist) and name it anything you want and include any shows you want (not just random episodes). Same thing for “smart playlists” (not “playlists”-those are for only selecting episodes music playlist style) within Overcast. These both will allow you to include entire shows in a playlist, but the only downside is that the episodes will be mixed together and sorted by release date or length. For Overcast there is a slight workaround though, where you can edit a smart playlist and choose your “priority shows,” which will force the episodes to group together at the top. If you choose everything as a priority show, it will simply group the whole playlist by show if that makes sense.

Now I don’t like giving Apple Podcasts credit, but they actually do have the ability to create playlists, put shows in them, and then have just the shows listed (and not all their episodes mixed together). You would go to “library,” then the three dots, then “new station” (which is another name for playlist), name it, and then you can choose all sorts of settings, including what shows to include. The important thing here would be to then switch on the “group by show.” This “station” would then be available in your library. I think that is what you would be looking for.

BUT, Apple Podcasts doesn’t have listening history so definitely a trade off! I would play around with Pocketcasts and Overcast if you haven’t because they have great settings for playlists that show based even if not perfect.

So many choices and of course none of them are perfect! I hope this helps.
