Everyone Should Own a Big Ass Notebook
Unlock your ideas

If you like to put ideas from your brain into the world in any form, you should buy a big ass notebook.
Not the kind with lines. Not the kind with a bound spine. Not the kind that can fit in your pocket. But a big ass, spiral bound sketchbook with beautiful blank pages.
Who might want to try this?:

You’ll notice this is for everyone, not just artists capable of filling blank pages with beautiful drawings. Obviously feel free to do that, but the purpose here is to fill this book with ideas and thoughts. Trust me, you don’t need to have an artistic bone in your body.
If you have some perfect little creative flow that involves several bits of perfectly interconnected and fine tuned pieces of software, I’m happy for you. But you are missing out on something by not having a big ass notebook.
I’m not saying to replace anything you are currently doing either, but to add this one little thing.
But what should I buy, specifically?
I know people like to nerd out on tools, but honestly go on Amazon or walk into any store that sells art supplies and get the most inexpensive one you can find. We want pages and pages of big empty canvas, not something fancy.
But if you really want an idea for the notebook, you can’t go wrong with this one. It’s what I grabbed at a local store and works perfectly well.

Mixed media is probably a solid option no matter the brand. That way, if you feel like adding thick Sharpies into the mix, you are good (or heck, even watercolors).
To start, use any pen. And as you fill your notebook, you can then try to experiment with different kinds. I’m honestly still trying to find the one perfect pen. It’s harder than you think but also not as important as you think.
